Nonprofit organizations are often formed out of a need that is found, a passion
that is kindled from within and a love that can only come from your heart. This
week’s episode is a glowing example of what it looks like when you open up your
heart by opening up your home.
My guest Dr Jessica Cox and Ms. Ann Lunsford share their stories of how they
found a love and a calling to help women transitioning from prison back to society.
Dr Cox is a beloved orthodontist in Hernando that found herself reflecting on how
she had been blessed in her life and wanted to use her good fortune to bless
others. She shares with us how a trip to the local jail lit a fire within her to help
women leaving prison. This reality suddenly materialized when she crossed paths
with Ms. Lunsford, a longtime evangelist to incarcerated women.
Hearing their story and seeing how God truly does work in mysterious ways, will
leave you feeling full of joy and hope. These two women have made a huge
difference in so many women’s lives and I hope hearing their story will encourage
others to take action where they see a need.
If you or someone you know would like to learn more or hear how you could
become a part of their mission you can reach out to them at email

In our second episode highlighting nonprofits, I have had the genuine pleasure of
actually participating in a few of the events hosted by this amazing organization.
The organization is called, The Hope Center Community Center of North
Mississippi, and is headed up by CEO and Co-Founder Mr. Kenneth McKinney and
COO and Co-Founder Mr. Stacy Dodd.
Mr. Dodd had actually been a guest of mine on my first series ever produced, and
he shared with my audience his troubled past and how all of his perils in life had
equipped him to have a powerful impact on others through his story and his
strong belief in Christ.
On this episode I not only had the honor of interviewing Mr. Dodd again, but he
brought along two very special guest from the Hope Center. Mentee’s as well as
siblings, Ms. Racquel “Rocky” Studenski 16 and Mr. Rex Vanek 12. This was a
pleasant surprise to have two young people so engaged with trying to help others
and stepping up to be peer mentors.
Tune in to hear how our three guest are working to grow this organization and the
dream and vision they have for its future. The Hope Center is doing big things in
our community and I hope you will find this episode to be both inspiring and
motivating, and please check out below how you can contribute or even be a part
of this amazing organization. This is a much needed message for our youth today.

What an amazing organization and founder to kick off the first episode
highlighting nonprofits. John Mitchell is a military veteran, a
firefighter/paramedic/EMS lieutenant for Shelby County fire, founder of “Blessed
Men of God, and a dear friend.
Mr. Mitchell has always had a heart to serve and has spent his entire life giving
back to others. Coming from humble means himself, he has held on to the
memories of what it means to appreciate those things you have instead of
focusing on those things you don’t have.
Many of us will come across needs throughout our life, but the unfortunate reality
is, most of us will never act on those needs. Some may feel intimidated because
they are not sure where to start, others may feel like their time and effort
wouldn’t make a difference. The truth is, taking up the needs of others and facing
these understandable concerns requires a deep faith that you are being called to
take action.
John shares with us where his concern and love for the underprivileged led him to
start his nonprofit to help the homeless and impoverished communities. You will
find his story and his passion to help others infectious. If you wish to help his
mission or maybe volunteer for upcoming events, you can reach John by his cell
phone number, 1(901)334-6371 or donate through Cash app $bmgresource or e-

You don’t have to work in construction to understand the importance of a strong foundation. Regardless of how sturdy the walls are, they will surely collapse if your foundation is weak.
The book by Robert Fulghum called, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, speaks volumes about the importance of a strong foundation. This week’s guest, Ms. Renee Triplett, takes this concept to heart and is very aware of how important her leadership is as the principal of Hernando Elementary K-1st. Ms.
Triplett explains how her upbringing in the country and strong work ethic, ultimately led her to teaching and eventually becoming a principal. Ms. Triplett shares with us some of her influences, philosophies and general approaches to life, that helped to mold her into the person she is today.
Ms. Triplett expresses her genuine love and passion she has for teaching and how her and her staff tackle the many challenges that face them in a post pandemic world. I am confident that this week’s episode will leave you encouraged and relieved that we have strong leaders like Ms. Triplett influencing and building strong foundations for our children that will follow them for a lifetime.

It is fair to say that leadership comes in all shapes and sizes. Depending on who you ask, leadership may hold varying levels of importance according to their influence and overall impact.
Regardless of your personal feelings or beliefs, I feel like most people would agree that spiritual leaders have one of the most important and difficult leadership positions that can be both very rewarding and extremely stressful.
One of the tenets of spirituality is to have an unwavering faith in God to see you through the tough times and give you peace when life is at its lowest. This calling is not one that should be taken lightly and this week’s guest is certainly someone that understands the importance of his impact on our community.
Pastor Saunders gives us some background to what lead him to becoming a preacher, what family life is like, some of the challenges the church faces in the 21st century and the responsibility of becoming a parent to his beautiful adopted son. Luke is just a regular dude that loves his family, loves his church, loves his community and above all, loves Jesus.
You are sure to leave this episode with a new found respect for what it takes to lead God’s people, and how fortunate we are to have strong leaders like Pastor Saunders.

If you watched the TV series “Emergency” from the 70’s, you will immediately see the correlation between Dr. Holley and the TV doctor, Dr. Brackett. In this interview with one of the top medical control doctors in the country you will learn that there is much more to Dr. Holley than meets the eye.
Dr. Holley has served in a multitude of capacities after becoming an M.D. He is the Medical Director for Tennessee Task Force One/Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), a large number of city fire departments and private service ambulances, schools that teach EMS all across the state, as well as the Med Control doctor for the state of Tennessee.
In his off time he enjoys building old trucks back to their former glory and even plays in a band as a bassist. Oh, did I mention he is also one of the true pioneers of podcasting? He has been a part of the Disaster Podcast which has ran for over 11 years.
Dr. Holley gives us his thoughts on the future of EMS, how he intends on moving forward as Medical Director and the changes that are coming our way.
This behind the scenes interview is one that you will definitely want to catch if you have any interest in prehospital care or if you enjoy learning about different leadership philosophies and how they are applied to such a large group of agencies.

Being a leader doesn’t mean you need an official title. Leaders are found in every facet of life and great leaders have a deep routed desire to help others. This week’s guest is the epitome of a selfless leader that does not require a title. Hernando’s Mayor, Chip Johnson prefers to go by Chip, and he is the most accessible Mayor that I have ever known. In our interview he tells about his humble beginnings, his time in the military, and the path that eventually led him to politics. Chip grew up in Desoto County and he never forgot where he came from. He explains some of the challenges he has faced and how he has endured. Chips discusses everything from running a cleaning company, to working in the mental health field, to losing an election, finding the love of his life, becoming a Grandfather and eventually being re-elected as mayor on the next election. Chip gives us a behind the scenes look at what has developed him into the person he is today and the person he is becoming Myself and SRP are forever grateful for the Mayor’s time and gracious interview. If you are a fan of leadership then I know that you will not only enjoy this interview, but I am certain that you will have plenty of takeaways you can use in your personal lives. Have you ever imagined yourself waking up early in the morning, driving to a trailhead that leads to a 6.3 mile loop, and then running in that circle for the next 14 plus hours for fun? Oh, did I mention that it poured down rain all night the night before which made the trail a total swamp? Well, that is exactly what I did on March 25th, 2023. However, I can honestly say that there wasn’t much fun about it. In fact, I seriously wanted to quit when I was about 8 miles in. I had to run this loop 8 times to reach my 50 miles and while I had trained better than before to endure a 50 mile trek, I was in no way mentally prepared for the obstacles that laid in wait once I hit the trial. Tune in to hear how I dug deeper than I ever thought possible both mentally and physically to accomplish what would become my greatest physical feat in my life! Each year millions of people are diagnosed with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and many more will never seek help or be properly diagnosed. As a whole there has been great strides in the understanding of PTSD as well as treatments. That said, there still lies an undercurrent of a lack of acceptability and understanding in society. Creating an environment that is welcoming and safe is paramount and that is exactly what this week’s guest has developed. It simply is not enough to recognize that there is a problem. Once you recognize that there is an issue you must take action if you wish to see positive results. Mrs. Hutchinson saw a need for action and she took it. Mrs. Hutchinson is the founder and President of TFRF (Tennessee First Responders Foundation). Her foundation was created after she counseled some crew members work through some difficult times following the loss of two officers. Mrs. Hutchinson found a deep desire to give back and that is exactly what she is doing. This episode is sure to educate and enlighten you, and will stand as a great resource for anyone that is experiencing PTSD or know someone that is. Thankfully, most of us will live our entire lives and never have to make a life or death decision. However, for a select few that measure up to being a part of our military’s finest, they will have to make this life altering decision multiple times throughout their career. This week’s guest, Jim Purdy shares with my listeners the very difficult path to becoming a Navy Seal and the price that he and his colleagues have had to pay. Doing the right thing for the right reason doesn’t mean that it will be easy. In fact, the harsh truth to what Jim and his other Seal members were asked to do would leave anyone with deep scars. Jim’s story of how they made one of America’s largest drug busts amidst intense attacks by the Taliban and a split second decision that saved his guys, but left him with a haunting reality that war is Hell, is sure to touch everyone. The physical and mental sacrifice that our military men and women make every year could never be repaid and every American owes each of them our greatest respect and deepest gratitude.
