Key The Recipe for Success – Coach Camp solo episode, Hard Work, Determination and Self-Discipline.
“Where will you be when you realize you are the only person standing in your way of becoming what you dream to be?” ~ Coach Camp
It’s that time of year when both high school and college students walk across the stage to receive a diploma that signifies years of hard work, dedication and the completion of a chapter in their life.
I was sitting at the Southwest Tennessee Community College graduation when I was struck by a moment of inspiration. I’ve come to learn that many times in my life I was being taught lessons for life or developing tools for the tool box, but maybe in the moment I didn’t connect the dots to understand the context of the message.
So with this in mind I decided I would sit down with only the mic this week and share how some of my life lessons and experiences gave me focus and inspiration to carry on even when I didn’t feel like there was a clear path to follow. This message is not only for graduates, but I feel everyone can take something from this and apply it to their life.
My culminating message hits with the three most important ingredients one most possess to stay the course and find ultimate success in life. Those tools being hard work, determination and self-discipline. There are many other ingredients one most carry, but in my opinion these have been the three that have been the most impactful.

Key Ingredients We All Need – My Guest, Grant Reid, Firefighter/Paramedic, Handy Man, Husband and Father.
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” ~ C. Powell
This week’s guest shows how having a solid blend of generations past and current times expertise, can best prepare you to lead a productive life. Growing up, Grant had a strong influence about the value of hard work from his Grandfather. Watching how his Grandfather provided for the family and was always willing to explore opportunities gave Grant the confidence to push himself out of his comfort zone.
In addition to his strong family bond Grant also had a huge influence impressed upon him from growing up as a boy scout eventually reaching the highest level one could reach, Eagle Scout. Knowing how to work hard and problem solve are essential skills that everyone needs in order to be successful in life and Grant had embraced both.
Grant shares how he and his wife took the ride together as he pushed himself out of his comfort zone to pursue his love for helping others. Grant admits that academics are not his strong suit but he wasn’t going to allow his struggles in a classroom to prevent him from becoming a firefighter/paramedic. Not only was he able to complete his paramedic program but he did it in a year that he welcomed his baby boy into the world.
Grant stands as a great example of Gen Z and he shows that hard work, perseverance, adaptability and a big heart can overcome much of what life might throw at you. I am completely convinced that our future is in good hands with the guests that I’ve interviewed in this series and I look forward to seeing what comes next for each of them.

Faith in Our Future – My Guest, Maddie Igleheart, Dunkin Donut employee and missionary for Christ.
“The great commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.” ~ H. Taylor
If you only judge the world according to what you see on social media then it would stand to reason that anyone older than 35 would have concerns about the future for the world. Thankfully, the realm of chaos seen on social media is only a small portion of the worlds population.
A lot of times all it takes to connect with a person is having a genuine conversation and allowing yourself to listen instead of judge. The older I’ve gotten the more I have come to appreciate the perspectives of people from different ethnicities, backgrounds, and age groups.
I met this week’s guest at a local coffee shop when I was ordering my cup of joe. It only took a short five minute conversation to realize this young person had a lot of understanding and wisdom. She shares how growing up as a host family to foster children allowed her to gain a unique appreciation for what she and her family had. Then as a teenager she took a missions trip to Italy that solidified her desire to live a life of service.
I know that Maddie is going to do some big things in this world and after listening to her testimony you should be left with a renewed hope for generation Z. With leaders like Maddie guiding the generation coming behind her I know that the future is shining bright and our world is in good hands.

Voice of a New Generation – My Guest, Ashlyn Mueller, EMT with the Army National Guard, gymnastics coach and entrepreneur.
“The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.” ~ A. Clarke
I don’t feel like it is a stretch to say that each generation feels like they are the last great generation to be born. I will admit that I’ve been guilty of making this assumption at some point in my own life. The fact is, each generation faces their own unique challenges and while some areas may have been more challenging, there are other areas that are more simple.
Some might say that life before cell phones was a better time to be alive and yet other’s may not be able to even imagine what life would be like without a cell phone. I am convinced that life is as easy or as difficult as we perceive. It is our own perspective that makes life more or less challenging. Talented, high quality, innovative people continue to be born every day, and from one generation to the next, there will always be great individuals and not so great individuals which exist.
My goal for this series is to highlight some of those amazing individuals that will surely be game changers in the future. Ms. Ashlyn shares how growing up doing gymnastics and watching her mother navigate the difficult trials of entrepreneurship gave her a strong foundation to be bold and fearless when she became an adult. Being in the Army reserves, a gymnastics coach and helping run a brand new business called EMTeas, Ms. Ashlyn is going to not only represent her generation well, she is going to be a true inspiration to young women everywhere.

Memphis Wrestling OG – My Guest, Downtown Bruno Brown, Memphis and WWE Wrestling Legend.
“It’s like mama says… It BEEZ that way sometimes.”
*EXPLICIT LANGUAGE*
One of the best things about hosting a podcast is the opportunity to meet amazing and interesting people from all walks of life. This week’s guest is definitely one in a million. At the very young age of 14, Mr. Bruno Lauer happened upon a tent at the local fair that had a wrestling match going on. This immediately peaked Bruno’s interest, but unfortunately it cost extra and he wasn’t allowed in. By a stroke of luck he was invited to come in if he were willing to break down and clean up things after the matches were done.
Bruno quickly accepted that invitation and there was no way to know at that moment how life transformative that decision would be. Once the clean-up was over he was invited to load up and go with the team to their next location. Without a second thought Bruno loaded up and was off to his lifelong adventure.
Bruno shares with my listeners how his hard work landed him with the opportunity to become a manager. Little would he had known at that time, but that was going to be the thing that would open more doors for him than he could have ever imagined. When Bruno moved from Hawaii back to Memphis his career got a real shot in the arm when he became Jerry “The King” Lawler’s manager.
Bruno shares how he babysat Dewayne Johnson, AKA “The Rock” and how he travelled with Vince McMahon and eventually became the WWF Women’s Champion…for one day. The stories were too many to list so you will have to tune in to hear everything. If you would like to book Bruno for an event you can go to, Downtown Bruno Bookings and Media. If you or someone you know would like to get into wrestling you can go to, Pro Wrestling Mid-South.
