Leadership Episode 2 - Tennessee Medical Control Director, Dr. Joe Holley “Directing the ever evolving world of EMS takes vision and an undying passion for what is possible”
If you watched the TV series “Emergency” from the 70’s, you will immediately see the correlation between Dr. Holley and the TV doctor, Dr. Brackett. In this interview with one of the top medical control doctors in the country you will learn that there is much more to Dr. Holley than meets the eye.
Dr. Holley has served in a multitude of capacities after becoming an M.D. He is the Medical Director for Tennessee Task Force One/Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), a large number of city fire departments and private service ambulances, schools that teach EMS all across the state, as well as the Med Control doctor for the state of Tennessee.
In his off time he enjoys building old trucks back to their former glory and even plays in a band as a bassist. Oh, did I mention he is also one of the true pioneers of podcasting? He has been a part of the Disaster Podcast which has ran for over 11 years.
Dr. Holley gives us his thoughts on the future of EMS, how he intends on moving forward as Medical Director and the changes that are coming our way.
This behind the scenes interview is one that you will definitely want to catch if you have any interest in prehospital care or if you enjoy learning about different leadership philosophies and how they are applied to such a large group of agencies.
